2026 TENTATIVE CALENDAR of EVENTS

POTTERS’ GUILD OF LAS CRUCES

 


Below are Potters’ Guild meetings this year that are planned or are in planning or finalization stages. Please note: details regarding meeting dates, times and locations, and in some cases subject matter — except for the February workshop — are subject to change.


February 21-22: Alternative Firing Workshop at Jan Archey’s house, 4140 Senna Drive. Prep and start firing pieces on Saturday, February 21; pick up pieces on Sunday, February 22. Guild Members only please. More details in this newsletter.


March 26: How to Improve It/Can It Be Fixed? A critique of projects members bring in who seek guidance to solve problems, improve their craft and possibly even fix problems post-glaze firing. 5 pm, at Dona Ana Community College (DACC), 2345 E. Nevada St.


April 25: Sgraffito Workshop led by El Paso ceramicist, entrepreneur and arts teacher Karmella Raven. 9 am-2 pm at DACC.


May 21: Demonstration on best wheel strategies for throwing bowls and tips and tricks to improve and enhance hand-built bowls. 5 pm at DACC.


June (Date TBD): Fire & Fiber Artists’ Awards Discussion with Show Juror; Gallery 925, 925 N. Mesquite Street Las Cruces.


July 16: Let’s Play With Clay with El Paso ceramics Professor Heather Kaplan,

5 pm, DACC.


August (Date TBD): Empty Bowls glazing workshop, DACC.


September (Date TBD): Is the Price Right? A brown bag group effort to strategize pricing of your ceramic pieces in preparation for the holiday sales season. Both market location and product issues to be considered.


October 9: EMPTY BOWLS FUNDRAISER EVENT. No meeting. Enjoy your recovery time!


November 12: Clay Carving Spectacular: tips, tricks, strategies and ideas.


December: No meeting. Happy Holidays! 




What we offer


Potters’ Guild of Las Cruces provides several different events that are open to the local Las Cruces, NM, community throughout the year. We welcome both artists and admirers to come in and check out the items, enjoy the company, and hang around for a while. 

Whether you want to do a little early holiday shopping at our sale, or you are in the mood to browse some local artwork at a show, we have some great offerings. Look for dates for each of the following—we’ll be sure to keep you posted!
